In October 2021, your account will be transformed to one of the newly re-packed and re-named Smaply plans. 

Here comes everything you need to know about the transition and how it will affect your account.






What's new about the future plans?

These are the main changes:

  • The new plans are called Free, Basic, and Pro.
    The Basic and Pro plans will be available on a monthly or annual basis.

  • The plans are based on per-user pricing.

  • The free-forever plan will be a substitute for our 14 days Smaply trial. 
    Full-featured trials will only be available through a manual setup for enterprise contacts.

What's the timeline for the change?

This change is effective for all new subscriptions starting from October 2021. 

Existing plans, both monthly and annual subscriptions, will be converted to the new plans in the course of October 2021.

The invoices that you get from October 2021 will be issued with the new plan name, including the new feature sets.




How do the new plans and pricing affect my current account?

If you are subscribed to a monthly self-service plan (Starter, Regular, or Business), it will be converted to one of the new plans in October 2021, but your pricing will remain the same for another six months. Find more details below.


If you are subscribed to an annual self-service plan, it will be converted to one of the new plans in October 2021, but your pricing will remain the same for the current and next billing period. Find more details below.




I have a trial account

Active trial accounts

You can switch to a Free plan or any of the other paid plans after your trial expired. 

To do so, just navigate to the "Manage subscription" menu in your account settings.


Trial accounts that expired within the last six months

We saved your projects, you can continue using your expired trial account by signing up for any of the new plans. 

To do so, just navigate to the "Manage subscription" menu in your account settings.


The following features are included in the Free plan: 




I have a Starter account

If you have a Starter account, your account will be converted to the new Basic plan. 

The cost of the Basic plan is 19 Euro per user/month (or 199 Euro per user/year).




I have a Regular account

If you have a Regular account, your account will be converted to the new Basic plan. 

The cost of the Basic plan is 19 Euro per user/month (or 199 Euro per user/year).


If you would exceed the new plan limit of 3 projects, don't worry: you will still have access to all your existing projects. You will just not be able to create new projects unless you delete some of the existing ones. An in-app wizard will guide you through the process.




I have a Business account

If you have a Business account, your account will be converted to the new Pro plan. 

The cost of the Pro plan is 29 Euro per user/month (or 299 Euro per user/year).


The only difference between the Business and the Pro account is the per-user-pricing:

  • For the Business account, you used to pay 100 Euro/month for 3 included users
  • For the Pro account, you will pay 29 Euro/month for 1 user


The features included in Business and Pro are identical. 




I have a Student account

We are going to discontinue Student plans, your account will be transformed into a Free plan. 


We know, feature-wise the free plan can not hold up with the Student plan. However, we hope we can still help you save some money since you'll not have to pay a single coin from now on. 

If you still want to benefit from a broader range of features: for the Student plan you had to pay 10 Euro/month, the next paid plan that can be compared to it will be the new basic Plan for 19 Euro/month.


Also, we invite you to talk to your teacher/university and let them know we offer remarkable discounts for educational institutions. They just need to drop us a line at support@smaply.com.


Last but not least, don't worry if you exceed the new plan limit of 1 project, 3 personas, 3 journey maps, and 3 stakeholder maps: you will still have access to all your existing resources. You will just not be able to create new ones unless you delete some of the existing ones. An in-app wizard will guide you through the process.




I have an annual subscription

Your annual subscription will be switched to one of the new plans as outlined above. 

You receive the same amount of user seats as you have initially purchased. We guarantee you that your subscription price won't increase for the current and upcoming billing period. Prior to your renewal, you will receive a notification outlining the expected renewal costs.




I have an Enterprise account

The pricing update has no impact on your purchased package. 

Pricing and features are completely the same. We change only the naming of our enterprise plan. Furthermore, we have defined more clearly what services you can expect from us in the journey with us. We are going to get in touch with you shortly to give you an outlook of the roadmap and the new plan structure.




Do I have to pay more?

If you are on a monthly plan, we apply a discount for 6 months so you will pay the same amount as previously.

Lucky you, if you will pay less on the new plan – you're saving the money :)




I received a discount for my current account – will this change?

We will continue offering discounts for educational purposes, NGOs, and public services – please drop us a line at support@smaply.com if you're interested.




What is the reason for the new pricing?

There are three main reasons for this change. We want to:

  1. Simplify the plans with per-user pricing, making pricing more predictable and easy to understand
  2. Make sure that the features in each plan are better aligned with the needs of you, our users
  3. Offer a free plan to make Smaply accessible and affordable for everyone




What if I am not happy with the new plan I will get?

You can always choose a new plan yourself – just navigate to your subscription page.

If you do not want to continue using Smaply after the aforementioned pricing changes take effect, you can cancel your subscription on your subscription page or get in touch with us at support@smaply.com.
